"Biddy, Tangled" - mixed media on reclaimed wood, 6" x 18" x 1". Ready to hang.
It was just a matter of time before some tangling ended up on a queen. Biddy (whose name means 'protective') wanted a crown of a different sort. No golden tiara for this one. So I cut up some of my older doodle art and collaged her something special, with a scepter to match. I thought it would put a happy look on her face, but Biddy is serious about protecting her realm and remains ever watchful. Her paper dress is made of lovely orchid patterns from a cocktail napkin.
It was a gloomy, thundery, rainy day here in south Florida yesterday, which turned into a movie marathon with gluten-free pizza and herbal tea. Sigh. Such a delicious respite from the go-go-GO of the week. The movie of the day was "Me Before You," a romantic story perfect for sappy girls like me, complete with a castle, metaphorical dragons and tragically predestined love. The lead character was a quirky girl with striped tights and flowered shoes - a girl after the heart of my dressed-up queens.
A part of me felt a wee bit guilty about lazing around with all the angst in the world right now, I mean, isn't there something I should be DOING? But in truth we all need to give ourselves permission to rest, to unplug and to recharge now and then, even if it seems counterproductive. I suppose productivity isn't the purpose behind a lazy day anyway. :)
So a rested and recharged artist is back in the studio today, ready to make make magic with the muse and perhaps get something done as well. Now, where is that leftover pizza?
